Hello Holiday!

Oh boy!

What’s up everyone?? Geez it’s been a while since I posted on here! Hope you had a great summer! Are you guys looking forward to the holidays as much as I am? Man I cannot wait! My Dad’s birthday is September 7th, then mine is October 9th (get me gifts!!) and then HALLLOOOWEEEEENNNIEEE! AND! Also, Frankenweenie comes out! That seems cool! Then Thanksgiving and then CHRISTMASSS!!!

I am very excited about my birthday because I am taking an 8 hour train up north to see my sister in Berkeley and going hang gliding. I plan on reading tons of books on the train and imagining that I am on Hogwarts Express. I will wear a cozy coat and boots. Also pants and a shirt, don’t worry I am not that psycho to go naked. My summer was a good one I must admit. I always did my stand-up shows every night and at times maybe took one night off just to relax and read books. You don’t understand how much I love reading these days. (By the way- come here- I have a secret- this past year I have been writing my own book :) Okay! October 8th is my first live show of “Melissa!” at Steve Allen Theater! I will be having this monthly show every second Monday of the month. I hope you do come!

I know that I didn’t accomplish many things this year, such as putting out a comedy cd or a music album as I hoped, but I have realized that I need a strong hour of stand-up and to me I feel as though I am at a strong half hour so more work to be done, but I am very close! And for my music, I will do my best to find a recording studio to at least put a little EP out on iTunes. Things are moving along and there is nothing to do but do my best and be thankful for my many blessings.

I have been having nightmares these past nights. They are no fun at all.

Women Comedian

This is my third Summer attending the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, Canada. Which is nice! I enjoy seeing a lot of other great artists and comedians perform in this festival along with being in such a lively town!

I have shows every night for a week and some at different venues but the majority of them will be at Club Soda. Tonight were my first two shows of the week and I had a great time. The first set I felt okay about but the second I got heated up and excited to share my thoughts and feelings. Whenever I tend to feel the emotions more for all of my stand-up bits the set always goes smoother. I also didn’t judge the audience the second time- in my head I told myself they were all my best friends and that mental thought made me feel incredibly safe and trusted myself.

This show that I am performing in is called, the “Ethnic Show” and there are a total of 5 comedians I believe. The other comics in my shows are all so nice and cool so thank goodness- I always tend to get intimidated by comedians I don’t know well or if they look unfriendly it makes me shy away and sit alone somewhere in a corner in the green room. But not tonight- yay! Talked to them and laughed with them.

The comedian that is hosting the show introduced me for the two shows as “Here next we have a female comic! Yes! The one female in the show…”

Now I know him personally and he isn’t doing that to be rude by any means so it didn’t bother me at all- in fact it made me feel proud that I was the only female in the show and that I could represent them so I took it as hell yeah I am!

A funny and sweet comedian named, Godfrey, that was performing after me had told me said backstage, “Hey I am going to tell him to stop saying that. It makes it seem as though you are handicapped or something. He should just say let’s bring on our next funny comedian.”

I said, “Thanks!” I do get a little annoyance in my head whenever stuff like that happens, but I push it aside and focus on my jokes and do my best to be myself and have fun. Hearing someone say what I was thinking out loud was nice and cool to have help with weird things that occur in comedy shows.

So thank you Godfrey. Excited for all my shows this week and while the other comics went out to eat I am in my hotel room in my cozy Christmas snowman pajamas and going to do some writing. Also! I have Lucky Charms cereal! Mmm!
